[All things considered, it was probably a good idea to have knocked her out for a few more hours.
Not that Oswin wasn't exhausted to begin with, but the herbs in the tea Merlin gave her did help nudge her along towards slumber, if only for a little while longer. And it's that that helps to settle her confused and jumbled mind a bit, sort a few things out so that she knows a little bit more about what's going on.
When she stirs, the pain in her back's alleviated some, much to Oswin's relief. It's still there, of course, a load of burns like that don't just go away, but much less than before. The ash and soot are gone from her arms too and probably her face, though she hasn't got a mirror to check. She's still got her dress, though, despite the fact that it's probably ruined beyond repair.]
Merlin...? [She lifts her head, looking around only a little blearily.]

Once she was out, he went straight to practicing a few healing spells on her. His healing spells rarely worked -- destructive magic and enchanting was more of his thing -- but this time it took, at least a little. It didn't cure her, but the spells definitely took several days off the healing process and eased the pain.
The dress was ruined, and though he needed to move it to get to her more serious wounds, Merlin was a little too nervous to attempt that. After all, she was a woman, and he should do what he could to preserve her modesty. He smeared poultices onto what he could reach to help with the burns, and washed her up as best he could, and then it was back to waiting. It's easier this time, now that he knows he's done what he can and that she's breathing a little better.
He smiles when she mumbles his name and sits down beside her once more.] I'm here.

Or a metal cage.
Resting her head back down, Oswin makes herself a little more comfortable.] How long's it been? [There's no clocks, wherever they are, so she's got no idea how long she was out.]

So, she gives Merlin a faint, grateful smile, pulling herself up and gingerly resting back against the headboard to eat, mindful of her injuries.] Thanks.

It's nothing. Are you...ah...feeling better?
no subject
[It was almost. Technically the Dalek body her consciousness had been in had died, but her proper body, her human body had been very much alive. It was a bit of a relief to know that, to know that there was an actual explanation for all of this.
She'd just had to remember it all.]

[There's a short pause, and he finally manages to ask.] What...what happened to you?
no subject
I was...stuck. Somewhere. For a long time. [She finally gets out, haltingly.] Just managed to get out before someone destroyed it. [Technically, she had destroyed it herself, but that was beside the point.]
no subject
Well, you're safe here now.
[He wondered quietly if she had any magic.]
no subject
Good to know. [She finishes up her meal, feeling better with something in her and sets the plate aside, lying down again.]
no subject
What's your name?
no subject
Turning over to look at Merlin, she rests her head on her arm.] Oswin.
no subject
I've never heard a name like that.
no subject
S'not exactly all that common. [Oswin won't mention that it's also technically a boy's name.]

It's...nice, having someone take care of her for a bit instead of having to rely on her own wits. Not that Oswin couldn't have gotten by on her own for longer, but it's good that she doesn't have to.]
no subject
That's the first time anyone's called me that.

[He laughs.] Don't ask.
no subject
Blimey. And here I thought finding girls lying in the woods was a weird thing.

Guess I'll have to get used to stuff like that, if I'm staying here for a bit. [The thought occurs to her that she's got no idea where she's ended up except for a name, but she quickly pushes it away. Oswin will cross that bridge when she gets to it, thank you.]
no subject
Not...that you have to, or anything. I could help you get back on your feet and then we could part ways. [Merlin shrugs.]
no subject
[Besides, she likes Merlin. Maybe it's just that he's the first person she's really talked to after...all of that, but he's sweet and kind and that's exactly what she needs right now.] I'd like to stay 'round here, if you'll have me.
no subject
Well that solves that, then. Oh, ah...Gaius, my guardian, he lives here too. These are his chambers, actually. He's the court physician, so we get a bit of traffic in here. I hope you don't mind.
